Birmingham has always been a breeding ground for raw musical talent. Even before the success of Jason Isbell, St. Paul, and even Alabama Shakes became household names, there was Heath Green.
Heath has existed in various forms. As one half of the Fishergreen namesake, and as a founding member of the Backrow Baptists, he has built a reputation as one of the best songwriters, and performers, around. What is more impressive, is that he set to release his DEBUT album, with his latest band, Heath Green & The Makeshifters.
The self-titled album is set for release on March 3rd, and will be celebrated with two Birmingham shows. Recorded, in part, by band mate Jody Nelson (Through the Sparks), Green has never sounded grittier (read: f-ing awesome). The Makeshifters, made up of Nelson, Jason Lucia (13 ghosts), and Greg Slamen, are coming off a much deserved opening spot for St. Paul and The Broken Bones at the Alabama Theatre. With the release of this record, it would not be surprising to see this band follow in their fellow Birmingham pal's success.
Heath Green and The Makeshifters perform TWO shows to celebrate their record release. Both on Friday, March 3rd, see them at Seasick Records at 6pm (acoustic performance and record signing), and then at The Syndicate Lounge later that night at 9pm.
