Band of the Week: Stoned Cobra

Published on Sunday, January 15, 2017 by Tre Brannum

Bringng the heavy since 2006, Stoned Cobra has been a Birmingham rock staple. Standing the test of time, the band has played City Stages to Bottletree, Saturn to Iron City, and opened for bands such as The Sword, Gwar, Butcher Babies, and many more.

Known for their signature green blanket of light, the band has been destroying stages (And photographers chances for great photos) with their intense live show.

Armed and Hammered by Stoned Cobra

The band has released two albums thus far, 2013's High and Mighty, and their lastest, Armed and Hammered. Their lastest was produced by Eric Watters (Suburban Love Junkies, Leaderdog) and mastered by Ahmad Farzod (The Burning Peppermints, King Magnum, The Betas). Both albums features cover art from former Bottletree owner, Merrilee Challiss.

The band is currently back in the studio with Watters, and has signed with Black Tounge Booking, in an effort to tour more extensively in 2017. Stoned Cobra's next show is at The Nick, January 28th, with Beasto Blanco (featuring the Chuck Garrick of Alice Cooper), Calico Cooper (Alice Cooper's daughter's band) and The Stir (ATL).

Look under every rock you come across, but you won't find a band that consistantly puts on a great rock show.

The band is:

Isley :  vocals, guitar

Krothe:  guitar, vocals

Wahl:  guitar

Light: bass, vocals

Reed:  drums
