CukoRakko Spring Festival May 13-15

Published on Saturday, April 30, 2016 by Jessica Brasher

What happens twice a year every year and never fails to leave you nothing other than “Satisfied” and planning for next time? Well guess what ya’ll? It’s that time again! CukoRakko, the highly anticipated Music and Arts Festival, held at the beautiful Horse Pens 40 in Steele, AL twice a year, in the Spring and Fall.

CukoRakko has quickly become tradition for so many families. And that tradition continues May 13-15 for this year’s Spring Festival. What is awesome about CukoRakko is, it doesn’t just have that “area” marked off in the back somewhere, away from the heart of all that is going on, with a little sign that says “Family Friendly” and call it a family friendly event. “We declared the theme of the festival to always be “friends and family,” said Greg Entrekin, CukoRakko co-founder, in a recent interview with Live and Listen. Jamie Glass, also CukoRakko co-founder, said, “Bringing together family and friends is the most important element of CukoRakko.” He added that “CukoRakko is an event that brings together two of my passions, spending quality time with friends and family and listening to great live music. The festival is special for many reasons, but the most important reason to me is that it has become my family reunion. A family reunion that happens twice a year.” Couldn’t have said it better myself. CukoRakko co-founders Greg and Jamie have created something that goes beyond the music, beyond all the activities, and is centered around one of the most important things in your life that we can all relate to. Family. A family that bonds together, and with other families, over a camp fire listening to awesome live music is a family that has deep roots and will make a difference, like Greg and Jamie are doing with CukoRakko. This is an event that teaches us and our children to play together, work together, help our brothers and sisters, and lift each other up. It is more than just some live music and vendors. There is nothing else like it and if you have not experienced CukoRakko yet, JUST GO! You will not regret it. I have attended every festival since it first began in May 2014, but this year is the most exciting! My son, Jeremiah, will get to experience his very first CukoRakko! If we don’t count his attendance last October while still “in the oven”. And we cannot wait to return with our son every year, twice a year, for a family reunion unlike any other that can only be experienced at CukoRakko.

CukoRakko features 3 days of music and mixed media arts. You can also enjoy yoga, rock climbing, glass blowing, blacksmithing, disc golf with a PDGA tourney, camping, hiking, kid’s activities, food and drinks, crafts and much more! But wait, there’s MORE! Now, you can come early on Thursday, May 12, secure THE best camping spot and get in some pre-jam jamming with special guests Earthbound and Royal & Toulouse! JSP Rocks Pre-Jam tickets are on sale NOW!

So, come early, leave later, just make sure you are there. If you are not 100% “Satisfied” and filled with love and joy by Sunday, come find me, I’ll give you your money back. Kidding guys, but I am pretty sure you will all agree it was worth the price of admission! :) See ya’ll in TWO WEEKS!!
