Music & Beer: Southern Tier Pumking

Southern Tier Pumking

What's better than warm pumpkin pie on a cold day? Mix that with one of the best breweries in the world, and you get Pumking. Now that the magicians at Southern Tier have come to Alabama, we can experience first hand how they have combined the perfect amount of spice to get this tasty brew. I'm not a fan of spiced ales, and all the pumpkin beers I've tried were always lacking something. This one however is lacking nothing.

With a pretty cream colored head, and a beautiful clear orange hue, this beer looks awesome. But looks are honestly just the beginning. The aroma is fantastic. Every time you put your nose close to the glass, you smell a different spice. From cinnamon and brown sugar to nutmeg and allspice, this has them all. The flavor is almost perfectly parallel to the scent. With hints of ginger, the beer taste remarkably clean. With a very light mouthfeel the beer still has the full pumpkin pie essence. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this beverage weighs in at 8.6% abv so be careful. By giving this an 8.5 out of 10, I'm betting that it will be my highest ranked pumpkin beer ever. Being a great vegetable beer, it's got to be vegan friendly right? Yes, it sure is.

So this thanksgiving, after all the eating is done and it's time to start drinking, this is a must have. Hold on, why wait until then? This jewel can be enjoyed year around. Just be thankful for having Southern Tier in Alabama finally and drink one now. As I kick back and take in the sounds of Iron & Wine's Cinder and Smoke, it's going to be hard for me not to polish off this growler. So while I'm taking care of business; don't forget to cut your lights down low, turn your music up loud, and open up a new beer.
