Good People Brown
Birmingham has a new fixture, Regions Field. The new home of the Barons is located right next to Rail Road Park and Good People Brewing. In my mind that makes perfect sense. The intersection of 1st Ave and 14th St S will soon become the heart of family entertainment in the Magic City. A beautiful park, gorgeous stadium and an awesome brewery, I can’t think of a better way to spend the weekend. With all that in mind, Good People’s Brown Ale is the perfect complement to day on the town. One of the best things about this brew is the fact that it comes in a can, and cans are a great thing for craft beer.
Nice right out of the can, but I poured mine in a pint glass. The brown liquid has a decent off white head which lingers only slightly. The beer has a nice hop scent that doesn’t over power the malts, traditional of a brown ale. Taste is less hoppy and kind of sweet. A little caramel, a little roasted malts and a little nuttiness, this is a nice beverage. Lighter on the palate than a porter or a stout, and with an abv of only 5.8, this is an easy beer to drink. A great American brown ale, I’ll give this one a 7.5 out of 10. Oh and by the way, yes, it’s vegan.
A summer day at the park, right before the Barons win another game, what are you listening to? I can’t help but pair Jack Johnson’s Good People with that scenario. Where’d all the good people go? I hope they start coming to Birmingham, and I hope they love it. Our city has so much to offer, take advantage of it. Birmingham and craft beer, it’s a win-win.
